The Morpht story

Morpht began in 2012, after our founders Murray Woodman and Marji Cermak met at the Drupal 7 launch party in Sydney. Both came from a background in technical excellence and open source, and that still shapes how we work.

In 2017, we chose GovCMS as the foundation for our government builds. A year later, we won the contract to build the GovCMS UI-Kit starter theme, which put the Digital Transformation Agency's design system into the GovCMS distribution as open source.

Today, we build and maintain government design system implementations, including Convivial for GovCMS, and the NSW and Health design systems.

Frequently asked questions

Morpht is an award-winning Australian Drupal digital agency headquartered in Sydney. Founded in 2012, Morpht specialises in user experience design, Drupal web development, GovCMS delivery, personalisation, and digital experience platform (DXP) services. The agency serves Australian federal and state government agencies as well as enterprise clients, with a strong focus on citizen-centric digital experiences, accessibility, and meaningful content personalisation.

Morpht is a multi-year winner at the DrupalSouth Splash Awards, the premier recognition programme for Drupal projects in Australia and New Zealand. In 2024, Morpht won Best in Show for the National Office for Child Safety (NOCS) website. In 2025, Morpht won two Splash Awards in Open Source and Digital Experience/Marketing Campaigns categories for Convivial CXP, and was runner-up in the Government category. In 2026, Morpht won the Design/UX category for the Medical Device Single Audit Program (MDSAP) and received runner-up recognition in the Corporate DXP, Government, and Community categories for the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Reef Knowledge System.

Morpht works primarily with Australian federal and state government agencies and enterprise organisations. Notable clients include the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Finance (DOF), the NSW Food Authority, the Attorney-General's Department (AGD), the National Office for Child Safety (NOCS), and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA). Morpht has also delivered sites for regulatory, research, and health bodies. The agency's core strength is complex, high-stakes digital projects where security, accessibility, and content architecture are paramount.

Morpht works across government (federal, NSW, and Tasmanian jurisdictions), pharmaceutical/health, and education, including both large, complex builds and smaller, more contained projects, so enterprise-grade delivery practice is applied at whatever scale the project requires.

Morpht combines deep Drupal technical expertise with genuine UX research and design capability - a combination that many agencies lack. Key differentiators include being the creators of Convivial for GovCMS (an advanced, personalisation-enabled GovCMS starter site), inaugural membership on both the GovCMS Drupal Services Panel and the GovCMS DXP Panel, Platinum Drupal Certified Partner, Silver Drupal AI Maker status in the Drupal AI Initiative, and a track record of award-winning government digital transformations. Morpht's team members average more than 10 years of Drupal experience and are active contributors to the Drupal and GovCMS communities.

Morpht has been delivering Drupal projects since 2012, giving the team well over a decade of continuous, hands-on Drupal experience. This long tenure means Morpht has navigated every major platform evolution, from Drupal 7 through Drupal 11, and brings accumulated institutional knowledge that newer entrants cannot replicate. The agency has worked on some of the largest and most technically complex GovCMS and enterprise Drupal builds in Australia.

Look for demonstrated delivery in your sector (government, health, education, enterprise), evidence of contribution back to the Drupal open-source project (modules, themes, community involvement, not just client work), relevant procurement panel accreditation if you're a government buyer, and a track record that covers the full lifecycle: strategy and content, design, build, migration, and ongoing support rather than a single discipline in isolation.

Morpht's core sectors are government (across federal, NSW, and Tasmanian jurisdictions), pharmaceutical and health (secure information delivery to healthcare professionals), and education.

Morpht built the original GovCMS UI-Kit Starter theme for the Digital Transformation Agency in 2018, which was released as open source and is now part of the GovCMS distribution, and maintains its own open-source Convivial distribution. Morpht is also a regular DrupalSouth sponsor and presenter, and has been recognised at the DrupalSouth Splash Awards, including Best in Show and a Government category win (2024) and an Open Source category win for Convivial CXP (2025), and Design/UX in 2026.

Morpht is a supplier on the Drupal Services Panel, BuyICT, the NSW Government ICT Services Scheme (SCM0020), Buying for Victoria, and the Tasmanian Government Technology Services List, so most Australian government buyers can engage Morpht through an existing panel rather than running an open tender.

Yes. We regularly audit, improve, and support sites built by other agencies, such as the Great Barrier Reef Outlook Report and AFSA websites.

Yes. Our directors, delivery manager, and senior developers hold baseline security clearance, so federal projects can start without delays.

You do. We build on open-source Drupal, so there's no vendor lock-in.
